Before you get too scared, NO, I am not talking about the Mark of the Beast. I just wanted to get your attention, and I DID! This reference is actually how many "skins" each myself, Keith Wrassmann and LJ (kyle helped) had in Tiger Woods 08 on X-box last night. Who won?

Well... In reality, I DID! I know that Keith and LJ will say differently, but at the end of 18 holes, I HAD THE MOST MONEY, so I won! The game however made us play a "tie breaker" hole and LJ decided to sink a putt on the fringe of the green for the "win". It really was a great putt, too bad the shot Keith made prior missed the hole by 2 inches!?

Anyway you look at it, IT WAS A BLAST! Chips, ice cream, soda, golf on X-box, big screen, booming sound, fun with friends, and of course pictures....

...how could we go wrong? LJ, thanks for your hospitality and competitive spirit. Last night was a very close match and a blast. By the way, LJ and I both had to be at Lafe & Sharon's house by 5 am this morning and we both made it! If you are wondering, Lafe's surgery on the Aneurysm went very well! He will be at the VA Hospital in Cincy for about 4 days. God-speed Lafe!

Tim Taylor "Brian" urrrrr urrrr ugggghhh

Jen called yesterday while I was in a staff meeting at work to say: "I think we have a leak in our roof!" When I asked her why she felt that way, she said "because we have a yellow water mark on our ceiling in our bedroom that was not there before." OH NO! That is always a pretty good sign. Last night before going to bed I touched the spot and immediately it started dripping. I then took a screwdriver and made a hole in the ceiling. Here it is...
Fast forward to this afternoon. The sun came out and before we knew it, it was almost 70 degrees in our neighborhood. I left work around 2:30 and headed for ACE Hardware to get a tarp. Then, up on the roof. I needed to get the spot covered before the next rounds of rain expected tonight. I couldn't see a spot, but knew about where it should be, so I tarped my first ever roof! UGGHHH UURRRR! UW UW UW! I then cleaned out my gutters and finally put everything away. I am ready for the rain.

Then Jen had a great idea. Take a look up in the attic right above the hole in our ceiling. Humm? Ok! I have never been in the attic, so up I went. What I found made me learn a valuable lesson. CHECK THE OBVIOUS FIRST! The ceiling in the attic was dry as a bone however, I noticed the dryer vent sitting on top of the hole and right at that spot was where they had DUCT TAPED two vents together. The tape had fallen out and condensation had been leaking out for the best part of 10 years. That is where it came from, a dryer vent. Here is the pic to prove it...

Next, we have to get our ceiling in our room fixed, and then I will have to take the tarp off my roof. At least the cost of this will be much less than a roof. Thanks God! The best part, I actually learned a lot today. Another moment in TIM TAYLOR BRIAN history!

I LOVE THE SNOW

Caleb must be a "chip off the ole' block" because we had a blast playing in the snow on Friday.
First of all, we made a snowman. His name is CRACKER 2, since we did a CRACKER last year also.
Then we threw snow on the road making snow "fireworks". Finally, I watched while he played Kings Island rides on the street running around the snow clumps. It was fun. Because Caleb had a really, really, really, really bad day as far as behavior, this was a nice "eye of the storm" moment. I am thankful for anything I can get.
I love my boy! B. OUT!!

Small group Christmas Party

We had a great night together on Wednesday at O'Charley's. It was great fellowship and incredible food (you must eat the Louisiana Steak). Our waitress was really cool, although she loved to pick on me.
The only downer was that not all our group was able to attend. I have said it on here before but I need to say it again... I LOVE OUR SMALL GROUP!

She made the national news

If you attend LCC you may remember that a few weeks ago I spoke of a little 10 year old girl from Louisville by the name of Michala Riggle. Her younger brother was diagnosed with Autism and was finally starting to respond to an experimental treatment. Since her brother had begun to make vast improvement, Michala wanted to make sure that all kids with Autism had the chance to take these treatments. The doctors told her that testing would be $200,000. Michala heard the story of Jesus feeding thousands with a couple loafs and fishes at Southeast Christian Church and decided that if He could do that through some disciples, He could work a miracle through her. Michala began to make beaded bracelets and see them for $2 each. When I shared the story in my sermon series "Biggie Sized Faith" she had raised over $16,000 toward the cause.

On Tuesday morning I happened to turn to Good Morning America, which was a God thing, because I don't watch GMA. Now in my sermon I told all of you to watch for this girl, because I just knew that God would not allow this little girls faith to go unnoticed. Sure enough, there was her story on GMA. I am planning to show the clip on Sunday, however, I wanted to give you the link to watch it for yourself. WOW, it moves me to tears every time I see it! GOD IS AMAZING!

Congrats Buckeyes! WAY TO GO! January 7th will be a Holy day!

i finally became a real parent

My son is 5 years old. I have been daddy for many years now, but it wasn't until last night, that I truly became a parent. How? Glad you asked? Who witnessed? Glad you asked? Will it change my life? Glad you asked!

It was the first quarter of the Bengals and Steelers game. The Bengals had just scored and were ahead 7-0. Several folks had gathered at the "Richard Estate" to watch the game. There was a lot of food and beverages. It was toasty warm in my house. EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT! Then, it happened....

Caleb yelled from upstairs, MOMMY, I AM SICK! Jen and I rounded the corner to see him launching is dinner from his mouth. It was everywhere. He covered so much of our kitchen floor. Where does it all come from? NO! Not tonight! I told everyone to stay downstairs and jen and I began to clean it! YES, I gagged! I thought I was going to loose it. Does that make me a parent? Nope, although, to clean it without actually making more, does make you close to a parent.

Once all was clean, Jen sat with Caleb in his room and I went down to join my company for some FOOTBALL! It was not more than a couple moments when Lauren showed up and laid down on my lap. How sweet. Then she got off my lap and laid on the floor right in front of the TV. Suddenly I hear, "baby puke". No, say it isn't so? Yes, Lauren threw up all over the carpet. I have never seen friends leave a party as quickly as all did from my house last evening. It was now time to clean Lauren up. Oh yeah, my son puked again by now. THIS IS GOING TO BE A FUN NIGHT!

I held Lauren in my arms for a few moments when without warning, I became a parent! It still plays in my mind in slow motion. She cried out and then it came out. I didn't want the carpet to take any more hits, so I did it, I CAUGHT IT ALL IN MY HANDS! Warm, chunky and dinner reborn. In my hands! I looked down and I...didn't pass out. I didn't cry. I didn't gross out. I saw my poor scared daughter (at 2 years of age, they have no clue what is going on) and I just wanted to take it away. I was cool with holding it. I just needed to hug her.

Well, the night went on until around 4 am when the throwing up finally stopped. The kids have been great all day long. Thank you God! I pray it is past. It was not fun. I am so tired. BUT, I will never forget the night of Sunday, December 2nd, because I became a real parent!

Oh yeah, in case you wondered or CARE, the Bengals lost again!

VIEW BEYOND THE PEW

It's a rainy and windy Sunday afternoon and I am sitting in front of the TV (and computer) watching some football, enjoying my son and thinking about this morning. It is hard to give one perception of our Sunday morning experiences at LCC, but allow me to try. Today I would say that people really looked "READY"!

  • Ready to give their life to Jesus (YES) If that is you, please give me a call or come by my office, let's talk and let's study together.
  • Ready to get involved (YES). There is so much to do for Christ both inside and outside the church walls. God is calling many of you to serve as teachers, helpers, ministry team volunteers, leadership and also servants around our community. Give us a call at the office and we will get you involved.
  • Ready to Grow (YES). We had a TON of people sign up for the women's Bible study today. It will begin on Monday night, January 7th and run for 11 weeks. Go to our web page at www.lovedtolove.org or call the church office to be a part.
  • Ready to celebrate (YES). The worship today was over the top. Thanks to Jared for coming in on his vacation after Dan got the stomach flu. WOW, people were singing out to God. It was awesome to hear. I have never heard Silent Night sung with such conviction. People are ready to celebrate Christ over this Holiday season. Don't miss our kids choir next Saturday and Sunday evenings at 7 pm. You must have a ticket to get in, but tickets are FREE. Go to our website to reserve your ticket(s)
  • Ready to put Faith into Action (YES). The sermon was received so well today. Faith without works is DEAD! I could see in all 300+ sets of eyes today a desire to do something with your faith. It was amazing to see the excitement and conviction on the many faces. I can't wait to see what God is going to do as your recognition of God's call turns into action which turns into a fulfillment of God's will and an answer to some one's prayers.

FINALLY, the Bengals are on tonight and we are having a BASH at the RICHARD HOUSE. Anyone reading this is invited to attend. We will be starting around 7:30 and finishing whenever. Bring a snack and join us for the WHO DEY fun!
