VIEW BEYOND THE PEW

Sunday was a "two-sided coin" day. Here is a little of what I mean...
  • We spent all summer burning up in the heat without air and on Sunday it felt really cold without heat.
  • The worship was a wonderful mix of upbeat contemporary with the band rockin' it out and Jared leading two old hymns of the church from the piano.
  • I actually sat with my mom, wife and Judy McConnell IN A PEW while Brad brought a message that challenged, convicted, inspired and humored us all.
  • There seemed to be a positive response to our 2008 Faith Promise pledges for mission support (final numbers will be announced on Sunday) while at the same time we struggled through one of the three lowest offerings of the year to date.
  • We shared worship with nearly 15 first or second time attenders, while at the same time, our total attendance has dropped by nearly 100 people in 4 weeks. Sunday was the second lowest attendance of the year.
  • LJ Dozier went to the Bengals game and THEY LOST! What is up with that?

I hope you don't think I am negative, nothing could be farther from the truth. I know God is doing something amazing at LCC! I know that one Sunday really means NOTHING! I know that many families were on vacation and several were down with sickness. I know that the three prior weeks we celebrated really great offerings. I know that Satan is working on our family, but HE WILL NOT WIN! This post is simply my perspective and I want to keep it real.

It was a wonderful sunday at LCC! My spiritual life has grown because of it. Thanks to Brad for being "BRAD" and helping us to see past our walls! Thanks to everyone who served our kids, worked the children's check-in, served on a care team, prepared communion, made coffee, parked cars, played an instrument, sang in the choir (you guys sounded awesome), served communion/offering, pledged to support missions in 2008, and taught a Sunday school class. YOU ARE ALL APPRECIATED! If you are leaving town this weekend, BE SAFE! If you will be in town, don't miss worship as we begin a new series entitled: "Naughty or Nice".

I LOVE YOU ALL

B. OUT!!
